DAVE: A young boy, the youngest in his family, ninth grade, he is a big person. One of the boys who broke the cherry tree. The reason for the conflict in the story. Works on the farm. Has to pay of a dollar fine.
PA (LUSTER) SEXTON: Weather beaten face which means he works hard outside. He is 65 years old. He never went to high school. They live in the hills in the house. Pa wants to see a germ. He wears a sheep skin coat with overalls and ragedy clothes. Grey streaked black har. His hands are beaten up and gnarled
MA SEXTON: She makes meals and cleans. Also she listens to Pa rant
FARM: A lot of animals and a lot of hard work
SCHOOL: Full of kids, young kids where pa sticks out like a sore thumb.
Metaphor: Rough tough and as hard as nails is a metaphor in the story
Simile: His hands were big like the elm tree he stood by.
Dialect: The southern way that Pa talks and the misspelled words in the story.
