Chapter 1: What Happened: Jem and Scout wonder upon a young boy, who is four, that offers to read anything of theres. Now obviously this is a little bit weird, but Jem and Scout act as if it is nothing. They tell him it is not impressive even though I have never heard of a four year old who offers to read for you. The people in this chapter were: Scout, Jem, Dill, and Atticus Literary elements: Allusion: Scout talks about the battle of Hasting, Andrew Jackson, and the Creek War Chapter 2: What Happened: There new found friend Dill has to leave town, however this is fine with Jem and Scout because they have to go back to school anyway. Miss Caroline, Scouts new teacher, starts to tell him that it is bad that he knows how to read and it can hurt him in the future not knowing the right way to read. She is the finches house keeper, she is also a good cook for them 7. He is poor but he is a honest and good kid. He will not take anything unless he can give or pay it back in full 8. Atticus knows the Cunninghams are struggling so he helps anyway he can 9. Yes, she learns that guests are important. 10. You don't know somebody's position or why they are at that stance unless you are them, so judging them is not right 11. They only go to school for one day and they are frowned upon for that.
