Madam Schachter: She thought that she was seeing fire and was screaming about it. Her son was trying to get her to stop, but then she got beat.

Elie: He knew who Madam Schachter was and when he listened to her son tell her that there was nothing there it made her very sad.

Describe the treatment of Madam Schachter. Why is she treated this way? She was tied up and beat as her son watched it happen. The reason this happened is because she wouldn't stop screaming and it was making people scared.

She was looking into the future basically. Everybody was blind to the fact that they were being led right to where they were going to die. She knew though, it is a foreshadow to them getting burned. The Nazi's got her to shut up so she did not start a riot.

Chapter 1:  What Happened: Jem and Scout wonder upon a young boy, who is four, that offers to read anything of theres. Now obviously this is a little bit weird, but Jem and Scout act as if it is nothing.
