At the end of the chapter, explain the quote: “Where is He? Here He is—He is handing here on this gallows…” This quote was a response to a question that asked where god is. People thought maybe god was gone or had died. They had the right to think this because there was so much hate going on in the world then. They didn't think that god was there to help.
