Pain.
1. It shows that people may over exaggerate pain, especially when that is the main focus. She says that when people are doing sports or aren't focusing on the pain it doesn't hurt as bad as when they can sit back and whale about the pain.
2. She relates it to child birth which is known as one of the worst pains you can experience, she said our child birth is awful because we make it that way, however women go back to work the same day in the fields after giving birth.
3. The experience of pain is subjective because people will get hurt during a sports game such as soccer and not realize it until somebody points it out or they see it. If that is when it starts hurting then you are subjecting to the pain and only feeling the pain because you are letting yourself feel it.
4. The illusion of pain is described as the reader thinking they are feeling pain that is not possible.
5. Peoples pain level is usually based off of how most people react to it, if I broke my leg and it didn't hurt I would convince myself that it hurt because that is known to be a painful thing to have happen.
6. He talks about different setting such as war, sports, and in a hospital. In war and in sports you have a mission to focus on, but in a hospital you focus directly on your pain.
7. The different type of pain is due to setting and culture, child birth is known to be awful in our culture along with circumsision, however in other cultures it is a happy and joyful time so they do not think of the pain in a bad way.
